DESCRIPTION:
APW – Hamilton, Grade 946 with extremely rare damascene variant, 23J, 18S, gold-filled OF original swingout case, white enamel DS dial, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, jeweled barrel arbor, gilt screws and regulator assembly, sunburst pattern nickel damascene, s#439508. This full sunburst damascene pattern is extremely rare among Grade 946 production. This example is from a group of 10 consecutive movements (serial numbers 439501 to 439510) that are listed in the Hamilton factory ledger as having been sold to the Luchenbach Co. of Los Angeles, California during January-February of 1907. The single other example of this damascene we've encountered on a Grade 946 movement has also been within this block of 10 serial numbers, and we suspect this group of 10 may very well be the total production of this variant. Truly a great piece for the Hamilton collector. CONDITION: Mvt: GRO...
